It is essential to use a 4WD vehicle due to the challenging terrain, which includes dusty and potholed roads. Must-See Attractions in Montezuma
Waterfalls:
- One of the most iconic attractions in Montezuma, these waterfalls are a must-visit. The series of three falls offer stunning views and refreshing swimming spots.
- Access & Parking: parking spot is 1.000 col at the bottom of the Waterfal. Access by the public trail is FREE
- Another possible access is through Canopy access. To use that trais, you will need to pay $2
The waterfalls consist of three cascades, each more stunning than the last. To reach the waterfalls, there is a free, public 10-minute hike right next to the parking area.
This hike is challenging, with no signs, walkways, or ropes. It’s pure nature, which is very exciting but also difficult as you’ll be walking over wet stones along the river.
This hike concludes at the majestic waterfall, which is breathtakingly beautiful. The Montezuma waterfall plunges cascades of crystal-clear water into a tranquil pool below. The sight and sound of the rushing water amidst the lush greenery create an unforgettable natural spectacle.

After enjoying the the main waterfall, you can continue your adventure by visiting two more natural pools. The best way to access them is by retracing your steps to the entrance path and then seeking out the zipline access point. Foodie Time in Montezuma
When looking to have lunch close to Montezuma waterfalls, I have two recommendations for you. The first is a charming local soda with the best views of Montezuma’s coastline: Soda Las Palmeras. Enjoy classic dishes like casado or fresh seafood while soaking in the Pura Vida ambiance.
Another option I highly recommend is Playa de los Artistas, a beachfront restaurant run by an Italian chef. This culinary gem combines the flavors of Italy with the freshest local ingredients, resulting in a menu that delights the senses.
