Punta Barrigona
Although it requires a good swell to work at its best, once it’s on, it’s an epic ride. Don’t forget to watch out for the rocks and take necessary precautions to ride safely
Sunset Reef
Sunset Reef is another must-try destination for advanced surf enthusiast. Fast take-off followed by a long, workable wall. Do remember to take care as the shallow reef can be dangerous, its name is Sunset REEF
Mar Azul
Make your way south beyond Playa Carmen to the locally famous left of Mal Pais. Mar Azul is the place known for its beautiful mushy long left break.
You’ll need at least a 4 ft swell from the South, preferably SW, to get the adrenaline pumping. Mal Pais, is a rocky coastline. Make sure to surf only in high tide and take some time to check out the break in low tide so you know where the rocks are.
Even though Mar Azul has gained some serious popularity, it’s still a great place to paddle out and spot some sea turtles!

The lefts and rights break good at lower tides.
The beach’s expansive sandy area is perfect for walking.
El Garden
